Enclosure engineering
Enclosure fabrication must preserve connector, PCB, grounding, airflow, gasket, and service interfaces through forming and finishing.
| Capability | Fabex scope | Engineering checkpoint |
|---|---|---|
| Materials and thickness | Selected for structure, weight, conductivity, corrosion, and finish | Grounding and EMI behavior may be affected by coatings and joint design. |
| Connector and PCB interfaces | Critical cutouts and mounting datums identified on the drawing | Tolerance stacks should be checked from PCB and connector datums to formed enclosure faces. |
| EMI and grounding provisions | Conductive interfaces, grounding points, seam strategy, gasketing lands, and coating masks | Performance remains a system responsibility and should be validated in the customer assembly. |
| Thermal and environmental design | Vent patterns, fan interfaces, heat paths, drainage, gasket lands, and service access | Airflow and ingress requirements can conflict; both should be defined before detailing. |
| Ingress protection support | Fabrication features built to the released enclosure design | Do not claim an IP rating without testing the complete approved assembly. |
Send your drawing, material, quantity, and delivery target. Our team will review the process route, manufacturability risks, and open questions before quotation.
Interface-driven build
The enclosure is reviewed as part of the electronic product, not as an empty box.
Map PCB, connector, display, fan, cable, grounding, gasket, fastener, and service interfaces.
Checkpoint
Critical datums and tolerance stacks agreed.
Check bend access, seams, ventilation, drainage, coating masks, conductive contacts, and gasket compression surfaces.
Checkpoint
Fabrication choices do not block electrical or environmental intent.
Inspect enclosure dimensions and verify specified hardware, panels, doors, and customer interface parts.
Checkpoint
Fit and function evidence captured before production.
Retain approved programs, hardware settings, mask instructions, cosmetic standard, and inspection points.
Checkpoint
Repeat orders tied to the approved enclosure revision.
How we plan your project

Application
Drawing-defined sheet metal parts and assemblies
Material
Drawing-specified material and thickness
Quantity
Prototype through repeat production
Lead time
Confirmed after DFM and material review
An electronics enclosure may need connector, PCB, grounding, airflow, gasket, and EMI interfaces controlled through forming and finishing.
Map the functional interfaces, review the enclosure DFM, inspect the first article, and retain the approved production controls.
Documented DFM findings, a proposed manufacturing route, quotation, and lead-time plan for your approval.
Enclosure questions
Answers about grounding, EMI, heat, ingress, hardware, and cosmetic control.
Fabex can fabricate conductive seams, gasket lands, grounding points, masks, and related mechanical features from an approved design. Final EMC performance must be tested in the complete electronic assembly.
Dimension functional cutouts and mounting holes from stable enclosure datums, account for bend and coating stacks, and identify connectors that require assembly-level alignment checks.
They can conflict. The design may need filtered vents, baffles, drainage, sealed heat transfer, fans, or other system measures. The target environment and test method should be stated early.
Yes when the hardware, installation sequence, coating masks, conductivity, and pull or torque requirements are specified. Some hardware may be installed after finish to protect contact surfaces.
Mark Class-A or customer-facing surfaces, define grain or texture direction, color and gloss requirements, allowable defects, protective film, and an approved appearance sample when needed.
Mark conductive interfaces, grounding studs, threaded contacts, and gasket lands on the drawing. The process may use masking, conductive finishes, post-finish preparation, or hardware installed after coating, subject to the electrical design and validation plan.
Customer Perspective
B2B customers often give brief, practical feedback and show their trust through the next project.
“Great, that is very helpful.”
In contract manufacturing, the clearest reward is often another drawing, another production order, or a larger scope.
